Sprouted in 2018, KULA started as a project of founder Asha Wheeldon’s passion. The journey began in her hometown of Isiolo, Kenya, where sharing food with her community was an important part of every day. After moving to Vancouver and becoming plant-based, she was looking for food and flavours that reminded her of home, and noticed the gap in culturally diverse food options. This encouraged her to create a brand that not only offers nourishing food, but creates spaces for inclusion, representation, and community connections through food. KULA Foods was born! KULA focuses on creating nourishing Afro-Caribbean plant-based food.
